Common questions
- Who can sell on the platform?
- Farmers and farming companies in Africa that grow on land they own or lease. Everyone signs up for the same farmer account, and a farming company adds its company to it. Our team checks you, your farm and your company before you can trade.
- What does membership cost?
- Signing up is free. Sellers pay a yearly membership in tiers set by the worth of the produce they list; paying it opens produce and document upload, and the tiers and their prices are shown inside your account before you pay. Buyers join free.
- How are buyers and sellers matched?
- Once your account is verified, you see buyers' requests that fit your produce, best fit first, and can offer on any our trade desk has reviewed. The desk shortlists or declines each offer and tells you either way. It passes messages between you and the buyer, never contact details, and records the agreed price and delivery terms.
- What documents do I need?
- Sellers: both sides of a government ID, a selfie holding it, proof you own or lease each farm, a farm photo, and the certificate for each certification you hold. A company adds its certificate of incorporation, registry extract, a director's ID and proof of address. Buyers: certificate of incorporation, registry extract and proof of business address.
- How long does verification take?
- Once you have uploaded everything, our team checks it; for sellers, within 30 days. Your dashboard shows what is still missing, and if we cannot accept something, we tell you why. You can trade as soon as everything is approved.
- How do I get paid?
- The buyer pays you, on the payment terms the two of you agree, and our trade desk records the agreed price and delivery terms. Field to Port is not a party to the sale and does not guarantee payment; no money for produce passes through the platform.
